Class 21, Thursday May 12th

There are new examples in the iTunes folder. Listen to the examples, play them at the piano, HEAR this material before trying to understand it. Have an aural understanding of the concepts on which you can build an analytical understanding.

Reading Assignment:
Page 169 through 179

Important Note:
This weeks homework requires a LOT of harmonic analysis. 
It will take many of you a long time, please plan accordingly.

Graded Assignments:
1) Textbook assignment –  9.1 #1, 3 & 4 (Pages 177-178)
Follow the directions carefully!
Label and describe the 1st inversion use (refer to summary on P 172).
Label and describe the 2nd inversion use as one of the following:
1) cadential 6/4  
2) pedal 6/4  
3) passing 6/4

2) Workbook assignment –  9.1 (a&b)  (Pages 87-90)
