I have included a few resources from my Music 112 Bass class book for your reference. Watch out for examples in Bass clef ;-)

• "Basic Harmony.pdf" covers some basic ideas about harmony in major and minor keys
• "Chord Progressions.pdf" takes those ideas to the realm of how chords tend to progress from one to another. We will cover this briefly in class in relation to adding some secondary chords to our Bach chorales.

Workbook assignment –  9.6b #1 & 2 (Page 96) Worth 40 Points

OR . . . Ongoing Extra Credit Assignment:

Choose a Bach Choral in the Chorale book in the DropBox folder and do one or all of the following:

1. A written harmonic analysis = 40 points, 
2. A written melodic analysis = 20 points. 
3. Give a 5-minute verbal presentation = 50 points of your harmonic or melodic analysis = 50 points. Make 12 copies of your written analysis to share with the class, 23 if you are feeling generous and want everyone to have one to keep. Note: The verbal report must be more enlightening than “Then he used a IV chord . . .then he used a V chord”. I'm looking for insight as to what you found, what makes it interesting, how it follows the rules we have been working on, how it doesn't and so on.
